Grant us, almighty God, that the bringer of your salvation,
who for the world’s redemption
came forth with newness of heavenly light,
may dawn afresh in our hearts
and bring us constant renewal.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Luke 2:36-38
36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, 37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.[a]She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. 38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
How much time do you spend in devotions each day -‐-‐-‐ worshiping, fasting, praying?
Can you covenant with God to increase that time throughout this New Year?
Jesus, Son of the living God, King of glory, and Son of the Virgin Mary,
- brighten this day with the glory of your incarnation.
Jesus, Wonder-Counselor, Mighty-God, Father of the future, Prince of peace,
- direct our lives according to the holiness of your human nature.
Jesus, all-powerful, patient, obedient, meek and humble of heart,
- show the power of your gentleness to all.
